Moreirense star striker Fabio Abreu completes move abroad
Moreirense’s star forward Fabio Abreu has officially completed a move away from the club for a fee in the region of 2.5 million euros.
The Angolan international, who was Moreirense’s top scorer last season with an impressive 13 league goals, will be moving to Al-Batin from Saudi Arabia, where he will be managed by Portuguese coach Jose Garrido.
The 27-year old, who has represented his country on 4 occasions, scoring one goal, played the entirety of all three of Moreirense’s matches this season, scoring twice.
Abreu joined Moreirense in the summer of 2019 from Penafiel, where he scored 20 goals in 69 appearances across all competitions.
The loss of the former Maritimo striker will be a huge blow to Moreirense, who will struggle to replace the impressive goalscoring exploits of their star forward.
With the Portuguese window now closed, they will also have to look internally to find a player to fill the void left behind by Abreu’s departure.
