Portimonense closing in on the signing of Japanese legend Keisuke Honda
Primeira Liga strugglers are closing in on the signing of former AC Milan and CSKA Moscow star Keisuke Honda, the 98-time Japanese international having already arrived in the Algarve ahead of the move.
The 34-year old, who has represented Japan on 98 occasions - scoring 37 goals in the process - most recently played for Brazilian outfit Botafogo, joining the club in January and going on to make 27 matches before leaving in the last week.
Honda, who is also the current manager of Cambodia having taken the job while still a player in 2018, is due to sign for Portimonense on a short-term deal until the end of the season, with the option to then extend for another year.
It can be recalled that Honda will not be the first Japanese player to pass through Portimonense, who were also home to star Shoya Nakajima, who brought in 35 million euros for the club in 2019, while regular starter Koki Anzai is also currently at the club.
