Andre Horta makes return to Braga after brief spell in America

Braga have bolstered their team by reacquiring the services of Portuguese midfielder Andre Horta.

Horta, 22, has already represented Portugal at senior level once in his career, and his return to Portugal will likely bolster his opportunity to represent his country again in the future.

Andre Horta originally moved to Los Angeles FC for a fee in the region of £6million back in July 2018. However, after a disappointing year overseas, where he played just 500 minutes of football across two half seasons, he returns to Portugal and Braga for a cut price of just £2.5million.

In his first campaign for LAFC, Horta featured in 11 matches, though only started 3 of those fixtures and failed to get a single goal or assist.

His second campaign was even worse than the first; in a season marred with hamstring troubles, Horta played just 4 matches of a possible 14, starting twice and finishing neither.

Again, Horta failed to register any goals or assists, meaning that he leaves the US with no goals or assists to show for himself in 15 outings.

It represents poor financial business for LAFC in the end, who have made a net loss of approximately £3.5million in the process of handing back Andre Horta to his former club.

For Braga, however, it represents great business, seeing the return of a player who had good success with the club, playing 30 games in total, scoring once and assisting 7, during the 2017-18 season.

The move also sees Andre link up with his older brother Ricardo, who has represented Braga since 2016.
