Tottenham join race to sign Bruno Fernandes

Fellow English Premier League outfit Spurs have joined the battle to secure the signature of Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes.

Both Manchester clubs have long been considered the two front-runners to sign Portugal’s most in-form player at club level, although Tottenham have now also thrown their hat into the ring.

The Champions League finalists are looking to offer a fee in the region of 65 million euros for the Portuguese international - substantially lower than that of Manchester United.

Indeed, the Red Devils are believed to be prepared to pay up to 80 million euros (including add-ons) for the midfielder, who scored 32 and assisted 18 across all competitions last season.

Spurs have increased their interest in Fernandes, who has represented his club 15 times, due to the anticipated departure of Christian Eriksen, who could be on his was to Real Madrid according to Portugal’s Record.

Sporting are believed to still be attempting to entice Bruno Fernandes to stay at the club, with a new contract with a substantial wage increase on the table.

Liverpool are another club that could still have a say in the future of Bruno Fernandes, with Jurgen Klopp’s side looking to strengthen after their European success last week.

Bruno Fernandes is currently on international duty with Portugal as part of their UEFA Nations League squad, and played 90 minutes of Portugal’s clash with Switzerland in the semi-final.
