Benfica's Raul Jimenez hoping Wolves sign him permanently

Benfica's Raul Jimenez hoping Wolves sign him permanently

Raul Jimenez, who is currently on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers from Benfica, is hoping to stay in England once his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Wolves, it is known, have the opportunity to sign Raul Jimenez for a fixed fee, thought to be approximately 35 million euros, and the Mexican international has made no secret about his desire to sign for the Premier League club permanently.

In his interview with Sport TV, he also discussed the opportunity to play in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, stating that “getting to know Portuguese football was an excellent experience. To play for Benfica, the biggest club in Portugal, makes me very proud, because we were always fighting for titles.”

“We won two league titles, a Portuguese Cup, a League Cup, two super cups. It was like nothing else.”

However, Raul Jimenez made his feelings known about staying at Wolverhampton Wanderers beyond this season, saying: “I am happy in England, things are going well and I hope that Wolves buy me permanently, now or at the end of the season. That would be very good.”

“But, if that does not happen and I have to return, it doesn’t matter because Benfica is a great club.”

Jimenez has played for Wolves 23 times so far for Wolves this season, chipping in with 7 goals and 5 assists in the process, and Wolves are known to be working hard to get his move to Wolves made permanent, preferably for a cut fee in comparison to the clause agreed.

Of course, with Raul Jimenez being Benfica’s most expensive player in history, such a task will not be easy, with little room for negotiation as Benfica look to make a healthy profit on the 69-time international.
