Reggie Cannon's arrival at Boavista causes surge in t-shirt sales - and he has already scored on his Boavista debut

Reggie Cannon’s arrival at Boavista from FC Dallas has been greeted with great enthusiasm - not only by fans of the club, but American football supporters too.

Indeed, the arrival of Cannon at Boavista has caused something of an explosion in sales of the Boavista t-shirt, which has proven to be incredibly popular in America - and with Reggie himself too.

Cannon, 22, was incredibly complimentary of his new attire, saying: “This is amazing, I love the chequered design on the shirt. The shirts are fantastic. I can’t stop thinking about it… I showed it to my family and they were the first to want to buy it online.”

And this is an opinion that is clearly shared amongst football fans in the USA. Indeed, in just the first 24 hours of his arrival, 70 shirts were ordered by fans in America and sent across the Atlantic, a considerable spike in shirt sales, and one that could well continue should he leave a strong impression in Portugal.

In fact, Cannon has already found the back of the net in his first appearance for the club, scoring from right back, slotting home in composed fashion from just inside the box to give Boavista the lead, who ended up winning 4-1 against fellow Primeira Liga outfit Tondela in the pre-season friendly.

Boavista are expected to be fighting for European football this season, having recruited several impressive players in an attempt to challenge Braga for the ‘best of the rest’ moniker.
