Superagent Jorge Mendes was reportedly expected to receive a substantial percentage of Felix’s anticipated sale to Atletico Madrid.
Felix, 19, is expected to join the Spanish club for a fee of 120 million euros, Atletico prepared to pay his release clause in full.
Felix is seen as an ideal replacement for French forward Antoine Griezmann, who Atletico are set to sell to league rivals Barcelona for the same price.
And Jorge Mendes, according to Spanish TV show Chiringuito de Jugones, is to receive a huge 30% of the Felix transfer fee - giving him an astronomical €36million financial windfall on this transfer alone.
Benfica would then get the remaining €84million, that sum alone making him far and away Benfica’s biggest ever sale.
However, Benfica have since publicly stated that such claims are “totally false” and completely unfounded, stating that it “deserves our most vehement repudiation and denial.”
Previously, the most expensive player to leave the Portuguese champions was Axel Witsel, when the Belgium international joined Russian outift Zenit for a fee of €40million.
The fee also dwarfs the total income from the sale of Raul Jimenez to Wolves, which came to an even larger fee than Witsel’s total when you take into consideration loan fee expenses as well.
Jimenez brought in a total of 41 million euros in total, 38 million being the transfer fee, while the extra 3 million was from the initial loan fee.
