Benfica attacking duo wanted in England

Benfica are a club with players in demand as two key first-team figures are targeted by sides in England.

Having seen players from the Portuguese League go on to thrive in other European countries - no better example being with Wolverhampton Wanderers and their talented Portuguese contingent - other English outfits are also continuing to see Portugal as a hotbed for talent and are looking to spend many millions in the country to get their hands on some highly regarded players.

We have already seen Gedson Fernandes make the move to Spurs this window, while Bruno Fernandes is on the cusp of finally becoming a Manchester United player.

The likes of Ze Luis and João Filipe of Porto and Benfica are also being touted as potential targets of English clubs, while Portuguese duo Daniel Podence and Nelson Oliveira, who both started their careers in Portugal, are on their way to Wolves.

There is further intrigue, however, with Benfica strike duo Carlos Vinicius and Haris Seferovic both subject to bids from English shores.

Carlos Vinicius is a player who was subjected to an impressive €60million bid from an English club, who are choosing to remain unnamed, while reports from Portugal are also indicating that a bid of €25million has also been put in for Swiss international forward Haris Seferovic.

The offer for Vinicius, while tempting, falls below Benfica's valuation of the player, their objective being the receive no less than his release clause - €100million.

Benfica expect to sell Vinicius, and for the full price of €100million, but not until the summer.

Seferovic, meanwhile, has been on the fringes of the Benfica first team, Vinicius’ arrival meaning that he has more often than not been a bench player this campaign. That hasn't stopped him from having a significant impact on proceedings when brought on, though.

Benfica, however, would consider selling the Swiss international striker, and the next 10 days could be interesting for the 27-year old.

That's because, according to Record, not just one but several English Premier League clubs have enquired about his availability, with proposals on the table of approximately €25million. Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira will be considering the offers.

The trio of Benfica forwards linked with moves follows on from Raul de Tomas, who Benfica sold for €22million to Espanyol earlier this window.
