Andre Silva set for deadline day move as manager confirms expected swap deal

Andre Silva set for deadline day move as manager confirms expected swap deal

Andre Silva has widely been expected to depart AC Milan throughout the summer, and as we reach the final day of the transfer window across the continent, that may finally prove to be the case.

Silva, 23, who was recently left out of Fernando Santos’ latest Portugal squad, has had a tough time in Italy, and spent last season out on loan to Spanish outfit Sevilla.

As such, he has been linked with various clubs over the summer, having come close to joining Monaco earlier in the window before failing his medical. He has since been linked with a move to Portugal and Sporting CP, but those reports proved to be wide of the mark and, with the transfer clock running down, his future looked increasingly uncertain.

Indeed, there were some suggestions that he was set to stay at Milan after all after he started for the Italian giants on Saturday, playing 60 minutes of a 1-0 victory over Brescia in the league.

However, a move is widely expected to take place and be completed in time for the close of the summer window, with Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter confirming that his side are expecting Andre Silva to arrive at the club on a season-long loan - with Ante Rebic going in the opposite direction.

Speaking to reporters, Hutter said: “It seems as though we will probably have a swap deal.Ante Rebic will leave to join AC Milan and, if all goes well, Andre Silva will come to us.”

“It was Ante’s wish to join a big club, and all involved are happy about the situation.”

Silva, who has represented Portugal 33 times, scoring 15 goals in the process, will join up with fellow Portuguese striker Goncalo Paciencia at the German club.

The former Porto star scored 9 goals in 27 La Liga outings for Sevilla last season, having only scored twice in 24 league matches for Milan the season before.
