Farewell message from Bruno Fernandes? "An unforgettable season"

It seems Bruno Fernandes has left something of a goodbye message on social media this evening amid increasing speculation regarding his future.

After an incredible season from the Portuguese attacking midfielder, where he helped Sporting lift both the League Cup and Portuguese Cup and obtain 3rd place in the league standings, a quartet of Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing the 24-year old.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham have all expressed interest in the Sporting captain at some point this window - and his Instagram post has added fuel to the fire over his future.

The post reads as a farewell message, the 60 million euro rated midfielder stating, in Portuguese: “What an unforgettable season! The achievements in the League Cup and the Portuguese Cup, crowned with a personal record! The highest scoring midfielder in European football in recent years.”

He finished by saying “Thank you all for your support. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible.”

It is worth noting that he made no mention of the success he had with Portugal in his message, making no reference to his victory in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month, distinguishing this as a message solely for the Sporting fans, further indicating that this is a message of goodbye.

Bruno Fernandes’ release clause is currently set at 100 million euros, but if a club offers over 35 million euros and Sporting reject, they have to pay 5 million euros to Bruno Fernandes and his agent.
