Spanish reports: Keylor Navas closing in on move to Portugal
According to reports emerging from Spain, Keylor Navas is closing in on a move to Benfica.
Sports paper “Don Balon” have claimed that a move to the Portuguese champions is edging closer to completion, Benfica seemingly the most likely to sign the 32-year old shot-stopper ahead of the likes of Roma, Inter Milan and Arsenal, who have also reportedly shown an interest in Navas.
Luis Filipe Vieira is believed to have taken the opportunity to negotiate with Real Madrid over the departure of their Costa Rican goalkeeper while the Raul de Tomas transfer from the Spanish capital to Benfica was also carried out.
Don Balon also claim that Vlachodimos is hoping to make a return to Germany, and therefore the need to sign a new number one goalkeeper has been amplified, saying that the deal could be closed in the coming days.
However, according to A Bola, a transfer seems to be unfeasible, with Keylor Navas seeking a total of 7 million euros per year in wages after tax, which equates to a total of 135,000 euros per week.
That wage puts him out of reach of signing for Benfica, making a transfer for the 32-year old shot-stopper very difficult, contradicting the reports coming from Spain.
A Bola point to the likes of PSG or Manchester United as more likely destinations for the Real Madrid man, who has fallen out of favour as a result of the arrival of Belgian international Thibaut Courtois.
