An all Portuguese final in the Asian Cup is still on the cards

An all Portuguese final in the Asian Cup is still on the cards

The prospect of having a Portuguese clash in the final of this month's Asian Cup remains a realistic possibility.

That is because of the way the tournament bracket has opened up after both Iran and South Korea won their respective groups.

It means both sides cruised into the round of 16 of the competition, and are both on opposite sides of the draw, meaning they can only meet in the final.

Iran, managed by Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz, are already into the quarter finals of the tournament, having beaten Oman 2-0. They now face China in the final eight.

South Korea meanwhile, managed by compatriot Paulo Bento, play Bahrain in a bid to reach the same stage.

Queiroz and Bento are also both former managers of the Portugal national team, and are managing two of the favourites to win the competition. They therefore have a good chance of meeting in the final.
