Wolves could return to FC Porto a third time for Valencia target Tomas Esteves

Wolves could return to FC Porto a third time for Valencia target Tomas Esteves

After having already sealed the signing of Fabio Silva and with Vitinha imminent, Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers search for a right back should bring them back to FC Porto as they look to the possibility of securing the signing of a third Porto talent in Tomas Esteves.

Esteves, it is known, is a player Porto are actively willing to sell this summer as they look to raise further funds to balance the books, and he has been a major target of Spanish giants Valencia, who have been pursuing both him and Porto teammate Diogo Leite for a long time now.

Indeed, Valencia have been well placed to sign the Gestifute player, but with Matt Doherty leaving Wolves and Valencia facing difficulties, the door has opened for a move to Molineux instead, and discussions looking into the possibility of signing will have already taken place.

The young Portuguese right back is highly rated at Porto, but with the signing of Carraça on a free transfer added to the performances of Wilson Manafa and the presence of the versatile Jesus Corona, Porto are willing to sell the talented 18-year old this window, with Wolves a very likely destination.

The attacking-minded fullback would fit the profile that Nuno and his side are looking for, having already gained some first-team football for FC Porto last season, and with agent Jorge Mendes involved, a move to Wolves is being considered, even though Valencia, another club the Portuguese superagent has a close association with, have been looking to sign him themselves.

Like Wolves-bound Fabio Silva and Vitinha, Esteves also won the UEFA Youth League in the 2018-19 season, and is also one of the most promising players in the Portuguese youth team.

Already capped at U21 level, Esteves is not currently on international duty, having been left out of Rui Jorge’s latest squad.
