Benfica teenage star Tiago Dantas to be loaned to Bayern Munich

Benfica are set to loan out 19-year old talent Tiago Dantas to Bayern Munich for the remainder of the season.

It is understood that the move will not include any purchase option.

Dantas is highly rated at the Lisbon club, but was unlikely to get any game time for the Benfica senior team this season, and a move to a new club and a new league is expected to provide valuable experience that will help the player develop further.

Dantas, who plays in central midfield, played a crucial role in Benfica’s UEFA Youth League campaign last season, playing all 8 of Benfica’s games in their run to the final, captaining the side en route.

He ended up scoring 4 and assisting 2 as he led his side to some impressive victories over the like of RB Leipzig, Liverpool and Ajax, but ultimately Benfica came up short in the final against Real Madrid.

The Benfica midfielder featured in all five of the Benfica B team’s league fixtures this season, chipping in with 6 assists.
