Medeiros on the move, Benfica to sign their most expensive ever goalkeeper, Salvio out - latest transfer news

Medeiros on the move, Benfica to sign their most expensive ever goalkeeper, Salvio out - latest transfer news

Benfica’s long-serving winger Eduardo Salvio is going to complete his move to Boca Juniors imminently.

Although the deal has not yet been officially confirmed, the Argentinian international has already been welcomed to the club by the Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici - and has even been photographed posing with the Boca Juniors shirt alongside Angelici.

The 29-year old will cost the Argentinian giants 7 million euros - and Benfica will retain 50% of his economic rights.

He’s not the only player that Benfica could see leave this summer, with young goalkeeper Mile Svilar fully expected to leave this summer on loan. A return to Belgium and Anderlecht seems the most likely destination as the 19-year old seeks more first-team action.

The reason that Svilar is to leave the Lisbon outfit this summer is due to the imminent arrival of Juventus shot-stopper Mattia Perin. The Italian goalkeeper has already arrived in Portugal as he gets set to sign a five-year contract with Benfica.

The 26-year old will cost a significant 15 million euros, with the management of the Portuguese emblem very keen on signing him.

Perin himself confirmed that Rui Costa convinced him to sign for the Lisbon club, his desire to play for a side in the Champions League at the forefront of his minds as he looks to return to the national team.

The 15 million euros being paid for the Italian goalkeeper makes him Benfica’s fourth most expensive signing in the club’s history, only behind Raul Jimenez, RTD and Rafa Silva. The fee also smashes the previous record sum spent by Benfica on a goalkeeper, which was 8.5 million euros for Roberto in 2013.

In addition to Salvio and Svilar, Benfica could also be set to let Serbian defensive midfielder Ljubomir Fejsa depart, with Turkish outfit Galatasaray one of the sides considered to be interested in the 30-year old.

In other news, Sporting’s Iuri Medeiros is also set to leave his club, the winger expected to join German side Nuremberg for 3 million euros.
