Gelson Martins is expected to leave Atletico Madrid this month, and a move to the English Premier League could be on the cards.

As AS reports, Newcastle United are looking to bring in the Portuguese international on a loan deal until the end of the season, considering an offer of 4.5 million euros for his services until the campaign finishes.

Newcastle do face competition for the 23-year old, with Arsenal and AC Milan two other clubs actively pursuing the possibility of bringing in the right winger.

This season, Gelson has only played 223 minutes of La Liga action spread across 8 games, and has scored just 1 goal across all competitions - in a Copa del Rey clash against Sant Andreu.

Newcastle are believed to be an ideal destination for the pacey forward, who has a preference to move to England.

It is believed that loaning Gelson out will help Atletico pay the wages of Alvaro Morata.
