Sporting still on the verge of signing Reading defender Tiago Ilori

Sporting are edging closer to completing the signing of former academy product Tiago Ilori from English Championship club Reading.

The interest from Sporting is no secret as they look to bring in their former defender before the end of the window. 

And they are making progress to make such a move come sooner rather than later, Reading already looking at replacements for if Ilori departs. 

It's well known that Ilori is also keen on the move, though new Reading manager Jose Gomes said last week that he has remained unfazed by Sporting's approach.

The issue at hand is the method of payment; Reading want all the money up front and are looking for 3 million pounds for his services, while Sporting have been trying to get him for a reduced fee.

Sporting are also lining up alternatives should the Ilori deal fail to go through.
