One of the Primeira Liga's hottest prospects has his release clause slashed for January window

He may have only arrived at Porto four months ago, but the young Brazilian international could be set for a move away from the Portuguese champions sooner rather than later.

Eder Militao, still only 20 years of age and with a senior Brazil cap already to his name, joined Porto from Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo, and has been an impressive performer since arriving to the Primeira Liga.

Having joined Porto with 57 senior matches to his name for the Brazilian club, Militao’s experience far exceeds that which would be expected of a young centre back, and the 5-year deal he signed with Porto back in August was testament to the potential of the youngster.

He has, however, already been linked with moves away from the club, with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona believed to be interested in taking him off Porto’s hands.

And it is now understood that, for a limited length of time, Militao’s release clause has been substantially reduced.

Rather than costing more than fifty million euros, ESPN Brasil report that his release clause has now dropped to 42 million euros for the month of January, a significant drop in value that could be the push that many of Europe’s giants need to pounce for the Brazilian.

What makes it even more tempting is that his release clause is only reduced in value for the winter transfer window, and therefore clubs need to act fast to act on the deal.

Porto are now looking to offer a new contract to Militao to increase his termination clause to a value in the region of 75 million euros.
