Bayern Munich 5-1 Benfica; Porto 3-1 Schalke

Benfica fell to a concerning 5-1 defeat to what have been an out of sorts Bayern Munich side, unable to match the intensity of their German opponents, but there were contrasting fortunes for Porto, who confirmed their place in the next round of the Champions League with victory over Schalke.

Porto’s victory also means that they are confirmed as group winners, five points ahead of Schalke with a game in hand.

The goalscorers for Porto were Eder Militao, Jesus Corona and Moussa Marega, while Schalke’s goal came from the penalty spot.

Benfica’s sole goalscorer was Gedson Fernandes, who scored in under a minute of coming on at half time.
